How it Works
-
1. POS Terminal at one branch receives a signal from the SMART base station. Each time a card is swiped, data is sent to the serving base station.
2. The SMART Network detects the SWUP transaction, and the data is then sent into SWUP’s own private network, communicating with PLDT’s Data Network to receive the data.
3. In PLDT’s Data Network, transaction data is also received into SWUP’s own private network which is connected to the different acquirer banks for processing of the transaction.
4. The corresponding bank processes the transaction and sends a message to the POS terminal to say if the transaction has been approved, or declined.

SWUP Cash
SWUP Cash is another SWUP offering that allows you to connect your cashiers or any terminal in remote branches to your Head Office servers via wireless technology. This is currently in wide use among retail outlets in remote areas such as gas stations, pawnshops, bank ATM’s, and even lotto machines.
1. POS terminal in the retail outlet receives a signal from the SMART base station. When a transaction is made, data is then sent to the serving base station.
2. The SMART Network detects the SWUP transaction, and data is sent into SWUP’s own private network, communicating with PLDT’s Data Network to receive the data.
3. At PLDT’s Data Network, transaction data is also received in the customer’s own private network, and then sent to the client’s site where Corporate servers are located.
4. Corporate servers then process the transaction and send a reply, if needed.
